Thromde proudly celebrates Bhutan’s rich cultural heritage and national identity through various national days and Tshechu festivals. Every year, National Day on December 17 commemorates the coronation of the first King of Bhutan, marked by parades, cultural performances, and official ceremonies. Constitution Day on July 18 and the Coronation Day of the King are observed with educational programs and public gatherings that honor Bhutan’s history, sovereignty, and democratic values. In addition to these national observances, Thromde hosts vibrant Tshechu festivals such as the Thimphu Tshechu, Gelephu Tshechu, and Phuentsholing Tshechu, where masked dances, traditional music, rituals, and community blessings bring residents together to celebrate spiritual and cultural traditions. These celebrations not only preserve Bhutanese heritage but also strengthen community bonds, promote social harmony, and allow citizens to actively participate in the cultural life of the city.
